Willian City Language School Dublin

Why Willian is renewing with City Language School…again (yes, three times!)

Willian from Paraná, Brazil has studied with City Language School for over a year. He has renewed with us twice already and plans renewing once more. Recently, the twenty-five-year-old took a break from his work as a civil engineer to chat to us by phone about his time at our city centre campus and his life in Dublin.

Willian enjoys a walk on the South Wall

“I arrived in Ireland in February last year,” he says. “I was looking at lots of countries. I thought about Australia but it was really expensive and so far away from Brazil. In the end Ireland was great because it is Europe and I could learn English. But I also knew I could work and because of my profession it was easy to get the visa because my job is critical here at the moment. That was a big reason for coming to Ireland.”

Willian has been with City Language School since his arrival and, though we were not surprised, we wanted to find out what it was about the school that keeps him coming back.

“I really like the teachers and I have really improved my English,” he says.

“My first teacher was Ellen and she was great. I also had classes with Pádraig, Shannon and Sophia. All of them were really good teachers.”

“I also really liked Stuart’s classes. He helped me in the Job Finding Skills classes and he really helped me with my CV and gave me some tips on how to prepare for an interview. That really helped. The backroom team was great too. They were always helpful.\”

As we speak by phone, drills and hammering can be heard in the distance. Because Ireland offers Study + Travel the opportunity to work while studying, Willian was able to bring his skills as a civil engineer from Brazil and use them on a site here in Dublin. This is something that will look great on his CV as he follows his career path.

Willian lives with his girlfriend in Dublin 2. She also studies at City Language School. Willian likes Dublin and thinks he will probably stay for as long as he can.

“I would like to be in Ireland for a long time,” says Willian. “I hope I can secure a full-time job with my company and stay for a long time.”

We think Dublin would be lucky to have such a gent amongst its residents.
