Luca De Santis has been part of the City Language School family for over three years. Originally from Rome in Italy, Luca is highly-qualified in Education and is our very own gladiator when it comes to looking after students. As well as teaching, Luca heads up our Student Work Placement Programme and is always on hand to offer students advice or a helping hand.
When he is not playing guitar, the 30-year-old spends his time going to live gigs and going on \”day trips to the small lovely towns by the sea\” in North County Dublin.
We caught up with Luca for out Teacher Recommends Series to find out if he had a podcast he could recommend students that might help them improve their English and give them an insight into Irish culture.
\”The History of Ireland by Kevin Dolan is my recommended podcast,\” says Luca. \”I like it because it talks in a fresh and interesting way about modern Irish history.\”
The podcast that Luca refers to was started by an Irishman living in Australia who found himself intrigued by questions on his own history that he couldn\’t answer. Most episodes last for around fifteen minutes and are articulated very clearly.
\”It is well-researched and entertaining,\” says Luca. \”This podcast really helps you understand what happened during those tumultuous years in the early twentieth century when Ireland fought for Independence and why people decided to fight for one side or the other in Ireland. I think most students will enjoy it as it will give them a detailed and unique perspective on some of the issues that still exist in Ireland today.\”
