Stuff to do in Dublin this week
World War One & Ireland – National Library of Ireland – Thu 16 Jan 2020, 1PM – FREE
This talk looks at the Irish experience of WWI through our collections of letters, diaries, recruiting posters, newspaper reports, cartoons and leaflets. This guided tour of our \’World War Ireland\’ exhibition will give you a fascinating insight into the times and also help you with vocabulary around war. It is also an opportunity to see the inside of one of Dublin\’s loveliest buildings.
Singles Night – McGowan\’s, Phibsboro, Dublin 7 – FREE
Here\’s an idea: drop …and go and meet real humans in real time. McGowan\’s single night has been going years. You might some old farmer with acres of land, you might meet a billionaire business woman or you could bump into the love of your life. Heck, maybe you won\’t meet anyone but you could have good craic doing that too.
It all kicks off on Friday at 9.30pm. It\’s upstairs and goes on until midnight. Games, speed-dating and lots more besides. The fact that it\’s an absolutely beautiful pub also helps.
COMEDY CRUNCH – The Stag\’s Head, Dame Lane, Dublin 2 – Tuesday 21st January, 8.30PM – FREE
This is event is just around the corner from the school. In fact, you can se it from some our classrooms. Comedy Crunch has grown into one of the premier stand-up comedy nights in Dublin. It is free and a good way of improving your listening skills. If you would liek to learn a little more about comedy and words around comedy, take a look at this week\’s #WednesdayWisdom.
