When you decide to travel abroad, for whatever purpose – it is important that your experience is exceptional from beginning to end. Last weekend, we travelled to Dublin International Airport to meet Elliot, a French student arriving in the Irish capital to study English at City Language School.
Travelling to new places can be challenging, even for the bravest of us. There is a new language to understand, a new culture to immerse yourself in and new places that are so different from those you see everyday in your hometown. As exciting indulging in these new experiences can be, it might also present some challenges. Although Dublin is one of the friendliest and most hospitable places on Earth, you might still need a bit of help during your first few hours in the city.
To make you feel safe and welcome in your new home, we at City Language School, arrange accommodation for you. And to make sure you get there safely we will even arrange the transfer from the airport.
Elliot arrived in Dublin at around midday on Sunday where our driver, Paul, was waiting for him. Paul was hard to miss. As usual he was there holding the board with school\’s logo and Elliot\’s name on it. Had Elliot somehow missed Paul and got lost in the airport crowd ; ) he would have been able to approach the Information desk, call our School Emergency Number listed on his Transfer Confirmation and get directed to where the driver was waiting.
But Elliot\’s sharp eyes spotted Paul straight away and after a big Cead Mile Failte (that\’s Irish for welocme) the pair proceeded to the airport exit where an elegant limousine was waiting.
\”It is my first time in Dublin, never been here before so I\’m pretty excited\” said Elliot.
The day is a bit cloudy- but all in all, we are in winter here! Destination- a host family in Terenure, Dublin 6 – a lovely neighbourhood located just 20 minutes from the city centre.
The host parents are both in their 50\’s. The host father is a retired teacher while the host mother is a house wife – a great one! The family have a beautiful dog and together they enjoy hill walking, travelling, watching TV and reading. The family, including the dog, give Elliot a fantastic welcome, we are sure Elliot will have a great time staying at their place and will immerse himself in the language and the culture quickly.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us Elliot, enjoy your time in Ireland and at City Language School.
