Padraig O\’Beirne has been teaching English for over three years and has been a cornerstone of the teaching team here at City Language School for almost two.
Originally from Roscommon, he has lived in Dublin for the last few years. Popular with his students, Padraig became famous during lockdown as the host of the Pints with Padraig Zoom Sessions. These were a very important outlet for many students during the first COVID-19 lockdown and helped many students to stay in touch with their friends and practice their English.
We managed to sit down with Padraig recently and chat to him about some podcasts that he recommends as part of out TEACHER RECOMMENDS series.

\”I\’m really enjoying Grounded with Louis Theroux,\” he says. \”It\’s a brilliant podcast. Louis Theroux is a very famous documentarian. In his podcast he interviews a new celebrity guest every week about their life and how they have been managing life in lockdown. The podcasts are funny, interesting, deep and informative, and his accent is definitely much easier to understand than my next podcast suggestion.\”

\”If students are interested in learning some ‘Irishisms’, I recommend \’The 2 Johnnies\’ podcast. It’s a great example of Irish humour and discusses all aspects of modern-day Irish culture. Their accents may take some getting used to. But stick with it and you will enjoy it.\”
