Ana way back home but only for a holiday

Ana Jimena Huesca Rubio has been with us at City Language School for six months. She will soon return to Mexico for a holiday but has decided that she wants to come back to Dublin.

We caught up with her in our student room just after her final class.

Why did you come to Dublin?

In the first place because it’s a completely different culture from Mexico and I really wanted to experience a different culture. In Ireland you’re near Europe and the UK as well. But a really important thing was the fact that I could work here, that was really important. It’s a big deal for us. I knew a few things about here but I learned a lot love the art the music, the pubs as well.

How long have you been here?

I’ve been here just six months. It feels longer but I arrived here in March.

Where do you live in Dublin?

I live in Dublin 13. It’s quite far out but it’s lovely because everything there is new. The buildings are all new, the neighbourhood is new and I find it very secure and clean.

Was it easy to find a job here?

For me it was easy. I just dropped in some CVs and they called me. At the beginning, I found it quite hard to work here because I never worked so hard in my life to be honest but it’s been a great experience, I’ve learned a lot and now I’m a barista. I work in the National Gallery of Ireland and it’s busy and the floor is huge so there’s a lot of work to do.

Have you enjoyed your time with us at City Language School?

Since I got here I really liked the school and I like the building and the teachers. I also visited other schools of course. I really like the boards, the interactive boards. I think it’s a really good asset. I’ve had four teachers here and every one was great. I started at Upper-Intermediate and now I’m Post-Advanced.  I did my CAE exam and I’m going to get my results shortly.

Was there a good mix of students do you think?

The mix was awesome. There was people from Mexico and Brazil but also I got to know lots of Belgians, French and Italians too so I got to know a lot of people.

What do like about Dublin?

What I like the most is that everything is very near. You can just walk and you get to practically any place. I like the nightlife and all the parks are beautiful, there are lots of parks here. It’s really green and compared to Mexico City the air here is so clean. I\’m going back to Mexico now but just to visit. I\’m coming back to Dublin.
