Lou-Anne is Lovin\’ Dublin

Lou-Anne Chaumontet came to study English at City Language School in Dublin back in September 2019 and it looks like she is lovin\’ Dublin. She has spent six months in the Irish capital and has immersed herself fully in everything this vibrant city has to offer.  On the day the twenty-year-old received her certificate from Oscars, we decided to sit down with her and have a quick chat about her time with us in Dublin.

Where are you from?

I am from France, a town in the Alps called Annecy. It’s between Geneva and Lyons. I study Communications there at University.

Why did you decide to come to Dublin to learn English?

I have already been to London for holidays and I thought there were too many French people so I decided to come to Dublin but there are quite a few French people here too. But it’s OK. In my class there was quite a mix of people. I met nice people from Brazil, Mexico and Turkey too.

What do you think of Dublin?

I think it’s a great city to meet people. It is charismatic. There are a lot of different nationalities and cultures here. The weather is not great but it is very enjoyable. I lived in RAthfarnham near Marlay Park with a host family. Ann and Bob xxxxx. I shared the house with a Spanish guy and girl from Oman. I had never met anyone from Oman before so that was nice. Different culture and I like that. The host family were perfect.

What about your experience with Oscars?

It was good. I didn’t know what to expect. I came to learn English and I definitely learnt English. When I arrived my level was not good but now I can have a conversation, I can understand and I can answer, even if I make a mistake in my sentence I think that all can understand me. So it’s OK.

When I arrived I was pre-intermediate and now I’m very close to Upper-Intermediate.
