In the latest from our Great to be Back series, we take a trip to the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) with the wonderful Sophia and a group of art enthusiasts. IMMA is on the site of the Old Kilmainham Hospital and is really close to our city centre campus in Dublin. After a short stroll along the River Liffey, students were able to enjoy some great works of art and practise their English while doing so.

Inspiring IMMA
\”It was such a beautiful day to go up to this wonderful museum,\” says Sophia. \”The group I brought were really interested and engaged fully in the visit. I asked them to use and write down some adjectives to describe the pictures and other works opf art that they saw and really got into it. It was another great day out.\”
IMMA is currently celebrating its 30th birthday by showcasing its collection and the history of the Museum since 1991 in the exhibition The Narrow Gate of the Here-and-Now, IMMA: 30 Years of the Global Contemporary. Opening in four phases throughout 2021, each new chapter will explore specific themes within IMMA’s 30-year history.
\”It\’s great time to visit this wonderful museum,\” says Social Media Officer, Johnny Butler. \”Personally, it is one of my favourite places in the city because it always hosts such cutting edge shows. The current exhibiotn is wonderful and really thought provoking and when you walk out of the musuem, you get the chance to digest and think about what you\’ve just seen in peace and tranquilty of the gardens.\”

We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring students out and about exploring our wonderful city again and we look forward to welcoming many more visitors and students over the coming months and into 2022.
