Love D8, St. Catherine\’s Church, Saturday 29th February – 11am – 4pm – FREE
Just a short stroll from the school, The Liberties is one of Dublin\’s most colourful neighbourhoods and for the last few years groups and business owners have come together to celebrate its unique charm. The venue for this year’s community fair is St Catherine’s Church on Thomas Street, with events running from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 29th February.
Over 100 community groups, clubs, schools, businesses and agencies, LOVE D8 will transform St Catherine’s Church into a bustling market-style community fair celebrating all that’s great about Dublin 8!
What’s planned:
Over 100 exhibitors showcasing their activities across a series of zones: HealthyD8, LearningD8, Clean&GreenD8, WorkingD8, CulturalD8 and CommunityD8
The public can explore all that The Liberties has to offer: get information on clubs and activities, learn about local schools and workplaces, discover how to get active and involved and much, much more
There will be local interest talks throughout the afternoon and special popup music performanceson the stage at lunchtime
Raiders, Traders & Settlers in Viking Ireland, National Museum, Kildare St – Friday 21st Feb – 11- 11.45am – FREE
Did you know that the City of Dublin was established by the Vikings? Take our Viking Ireland tour to learn more about what the archaeology of Dublin can tell us about Viking raiders, traders and settlers. See the skeleton of a Viking warrior, examine the beautiful oval brooches worn by Scandinavian women and discover ice skates made of bone. This museum is just five minutes from our city centre campus and is well-worth the visit.
Hack Access, Hackathon, Google, Barrow Street – Fri 21st Feb 6pm, Sat 22nd Feb 9am, Sun 23rd Feb 6pm – FREE (but you must register)
The Hack Access Dublin hackathon has been solving accessibilty challenges, which exclude people with disabilites from participating in the social, cultural and economic life of Dublin, since 2016.
If you are an engineers, developer, designer, urban innovator, entrepreneurs or just interested in innovation; here’s your opportunity to make an impact on your new city. You will need a high levewl of English to participate in this event.
