Three This Thursday – Dublin is Great

Living in Dublin is great. At City Language School English School Dublin we \’recommend culture\’ and we let our students know what’s going on in the great city (aka town). This week we have a look at three events that are happening near Dublin City Centre and further afield over the next few days.

ONLINE INSTAGRAM HORROR STORY – Mon  Oct 21st – Mon 28th – FREE

A bit of a strange one this and you don\’t even have to go anywhere. InstaTerror is a horror story told entirely over Instagram. All you have to do is follow @marniedar before the story kicks off on October 21st.

This is a terrifying and sometimes funny story that unfolds over the course of a week. There is the promise of a shocking climax during the Bram Stoker Festival.

ART BATTLE – ALL OUT, 1A Hyacinth St, North Strand, Dublin 3 – Saturday Oct 26th 7.30 – 11.30pm –  €8+

Now this is really cool. The concept is simple. Two artists are given the task of creating a piece of art each. They only get three colours – black, white and a colour of their choosing. In front of a live audience, the two artists create a \’masterpiece\’ and the winner is chosen by the audience. There is a time limit and contestants are under pressure to finish.

After the battle, there is a party with DJs and free whiskey courtesy of Jameson (this more than makes up for the entry fee). This promises to be a pretty unique evening and we are told that all previous events have sold out. You can fins out more here.

Dublin City Marathon, FREE

There are two ways of looking at this event – (a) it\’s a massive pain in the backside because so many streets are closed (b) it\’s a great excuse to grab some chairs and few coffees and cheer on the people who are speeding and then gradually strolling past you. If you have to work in the city over the weekend, it is worth taking note of what buses are not going where by the way. And oh yes it is too late to enter if you are considering it.
