Ernesto says CLS was his Salvador

Ermesto Somoza from El Salvador arrived in Ireland in January 2022. After spending his frist academic stint in Dublin with another English Language School, the 34-year-old decided to join us at City Language School.

“I came here with my wife,” says Ernesto. “After our first experience it was time to renew so we looked into CLS and discovered it was less expensive than our previous school.”

It turned out to be better value too.

“It was on the same street and so had the same location in the city centre,” he continues. “At the beginning, we honestly thought that because it was cheaper it wasn’t going to be as good but it absolutely exceeded our expectations. I was in your Business English class and this was something I wasn’t offered in the previous school. That option wasn’t there.”

“Barry’s class was really good. He was the best teacher I had between the two schools and I was really satisfied. I felt like I was really learning new vocabulary and things I had never seen before. The content he used was great and he did everything he could to keep us engaged and interested. In the class, we had a few people from Mexico and Brazil but we had others from Turkey, Mongolia and China and that was a really good mix and kept things interesting.”

Ernesto’s main reason for coming to Dublin was the fact that students of English have the possibility of working as well as studying. He sees this as a big plus and when he arrived he had very little difficulty finding work.

“I worked as a hotel porter and then as a customer service representative in a call centre,” he says. “I liked Dublin. It’s an interesting city. It’s very different from other capital cities. It’s quite cosy.”

We were delighted to find out that he felt City Language School was quite cosy too. As well as having the best Business English teacher in Ireland, Ernesto found the back room, academic and support team at CLS to be top class.

“Róisín, Aoife, Finola and Marijuana at reception were always fantastic,” he says. “They gave a superb service all the time. They have this empathy with students and they were always very kind.”
