Best Vegetarian Restaurants near our City Centre School

Vegetarianism and Veganism might be fairly new to this part of the world but Dublin has taken to it like a spade to carrots and there are more and more restaurants popping up across the capital by the day. Many of the best are close to our city centre campus and here are just some of our recommendations.

Cornucopia, Wicklow Street, Dublin 2

Established back in 1986, this restaurant has been a leader in vegeterian and vegan food in Dublin. From humble beginnings, Cornucopia has expanded and is now one of the best known and best loved restaurants in Dublin. The meals are hearty, wholesome and good for the soul and you can always expect to find queues of people out the door at lunchtime. Given that it is less than five minutes walk from our English school in Dublin city centre, this is one of our top recommendations.

Govinda’s, Middle Abbey Street, Dublin 1

Across the Liffey but still less than ten minutes from our English school in Dublin city centre, Govinda’s does cheap, cheerful and filling food very well. There is no messing here. Simply get your tray and pile up as much as you can on your plate. Small plates are €8.95 while big plates are €11.95. They also do tasty treats and offer a selection of teas and soft drinks to wash it all down with.

Veginity, Dorset Street, Dublin 3

A little further up the road and a little more upmarket, the team at Veginity fuse global gourmet flavors, quality plant-based ingredients, creative food science techniques and affordability to create a unique food experience not available anywhere else in Dublin.

Located on Upper Dorset Street, they serve breakfast, brunch, and a-la-carte dinner.  Breakfast and brunch are of a more casual affair, whereas dinner is where street food really meets fine dining.  Since opening some five years ago, this spot has won several awards. Well worth the visit if your feeling peckish and though a little more expensive than our previous recommendations, excellent value.

Vegan Sandwich Company, North King Street, Dublin 7

Since opening in 2020, this spot has gone from strength to strength. The only problem here is that the selection is so broad you could spend hours simply looking over the menu. Truly tasty and great value for money. Well worth the trek over from our city centre campus.

Umi Falafel, Dame Street, Dublin 2 (and other locations)

Another spot that is very close to our hearts and close to our city centre school is Umi Falafel. They have a few restaurants dotted around the city and the one close to us is one of the most popular. Their increasingly famous falafel mix is prepared every morning in-house. They make all their own sauces and bread is freshly baked. This is a real taste of the best Arabic influenced food in Dublin.
