Christmas in Dublin is special. Every December, the streets of the Irish capital come alive with all the colour of Christmas. Every street is strewn with fairy lights and Christmas trees. Laneways are awash with the sounds of people singing Christmas carols and the pubs are packed with old friends meeting again and new friendships starting out.
At Oscar’s International, we love Christmas and every year we create a social programme celebrating its power to bring people together from all over the world. This year is no different.
Christmas at Oscars
“I think Dublin is pretty unique at this time of the year,” says Fernando Bajo, co-ordinator of Social Activites at Oscars. “There are parties all over the city and lots of Irish people who are living abroad come home to be with their families. I love the unique Irish Christmas traditions; the Christmas pudding, punch, Christmas Eve parties with friends and so on. We realise that many of our students will be away from home for maybe the first time, so we really try our best to make sure they feel they are part of a family here because they are part of a family; the City Language School family.”

Our Social Programme for Christmas
This year’s programme includes Christmas movie nights, an ugly sweater competition, a Christmas carolling karaoke competition and a Christmas Arts and Crafts afternoon where students make their own decorations.
There are also trips out of the school to go ice skating, Christmas market shopping and of course a few pub crawls.
It is, as the song says, the most wonderful time of the year and at City Language School we plan to make it stay that way for our students.
