Because of its location in the heart of Dublin, City Language School is pretty much close to everything. In fact not only is City Language School a centre of excellent English Language study, it is also a centre of culture and enjoyment. At this time of year, Dublin is buzzing with the atmosphere of Christmas. Dublin has always had a great Christmas spirit but in recent years it has started adding Christmas markets to its offering. This gives the city even more colour and there are some great bargains and gifts out there. So if you\’re on the lookout for something different to bring back home to your family in Italy or Turkey or you\’re staying here for Christmas and want to buy something special for your host family, here are some Christmas markets close to the school that we really think you should visit.
Dandelion Christmas Market
Enjoying a renewed lease of life as Dublin’s biggest pop-up market, this was where U2 played their first gigs.
The market is located in The Well at St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre and features dozens of traders spread over two floors. Keep your eyes out for vintage clothing and vinyl as well as some unique jewellery and art.
Every Sunday from 12pm to 5pm until December 19.
The Winteryard Flea Market
Ok it\’s a little more than five minutes but it\’s still pretty close and more importantly it\’s kind of hip, so we\’re including it. This is the \’new\’ Bernard Shaw pub and it has a market running every Sunday in December and throughout January at Cross Guns Bridge in Glasnevin.
Open Every Sunday from 12pm to 5pm
Bewley’s Christmas Market
Bewley\’s new Christmas Market is a celebration of the Irish producers and suppliers.
They are putting independent creators front and centre throughout the Christmas period and at this Grafton Street market you’ll find everything from candles and clothing to beauty and books.
Beautiful ceramic tableware from artisanal lifestyle brand Arran Street East and contemporary handcrafted delights from Bobi, My Dear make up part of the Homeware section, while Due South Clothing puts sustainability in the spotlight with their recycling pieces.
You\’ll also find stunning prints from Jam Art, essential oils from The Nature of Things and a varied selection of quality reads from The Company of Books, while Savage Sauces, Nutshed and Blanco Nino have plenty to get those taste buds going.
Christmas at the Castle
Christmas at the Castle will offer an open-air market filled with more than thirty traditional alpine stalls.
There will also be performances from the Dublin Gospel Choir, New Dublin Voices, Playlist and the Crux Voice Ensemble. This is a free event but you will need to book in advance.
